I cancelled my Figma subscription today.
And switched to AI to generate mockups using Claude Code and Nano Banana.
Here is my flow:
The Process
-
Think how the app should work. You can brainstorm options with Opus 4.5. Claude Code can analyze the database and suggest options.
-
Suggest your vision and ask for additional options. No need for planning mode, just chatting like with a real person.
-
Choose what you like. Remember that it is only you who should decide. You can proceed with several options with Claude.
-
Ask Claude Code to create markdown files with text mockups for each option you like.
-
Start new chat with Gemini. Briefly describe your app idea, bring current app screenshots so the new design would be aligned to that.
-
Use one markdown file at a time and select Nano Banana to generate new images.
-
Adjust the mockup creation → image generation if needed.
The Result
Aligned UX ideas that you can bring back to Claude Code and ask to build UX like that.

The whole process takes minutes instead of hours, costs almost nothing compared to Figma’s subscription, and gives me exactly what I need: clear visual direction for implementation.
